Blue Jay Inlay 2012 Schedule
  • March 17 - 18
  • Oct 27 -28

Inlay lessons and techniques have always been a part of our guitar making courses but this is the first time we are focusing a course solely on this amazing craft. We are very excited to now offer a course tailored to this process with the help from Tracy Cox, a world renowned inlay artist who does the work for the Martin Guitar Custom Shop. Tracy has developed a two day course that is perfect for anyone who is interested in inlay. This course is not just for luthiers; it can be helpful for furniture building, jewelery making, and many other crafts. Please click on the schedule and supply list (many of the things you will take home) we will follow during the course. Note that we have placed this course just before a Guitar Building course for those of you who wish to stay and learn how to build a guitar that you can inlay.  Please don't hesitate to call or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Tracy CoxTracy's Bio: I have always been an artist and self professed guitar nut. Then one day I realized that I could combine my love of the guitar with my passion for art. This realization brought me to the shop of builder and inlay artist David Nichols. Within weeks of learning from David I was planning to build and inlay my first guitar. Eventually I would find myself working in the Martin Guitar Custom Shop as their Inlay artist. I spent the next couple of years doing their custom and artist relations inlay work. While working in the Martin Guitar factory I saw first hand all of the skill and craftsmanship that went into building such a wonderful guitar. This would inspire me to build more of my own guitars, and now I work from my home studio in Northern New York with my wife Daisy. Here we continue to create inlay for Martin Guitar, various other Manufacturers, and other luthiers. As well as creating inlay, we enjoy teaching the skills and techniques necessary to create your own creative inlay.
